’somebody’ complained that we haven’t posted since the 23rd…(actually, it’s exciting to have regular readers). but to be completely honest, there has been nothing going on in our lives interesting enough to grace the internet.
- wil: he’s busy with work
- kristen: she’s busy with work
- gracie: she’s busy with the work of sleeping all day
actually, i had planned on an exciting montage of photos from this weekend, but today has definitely not gone to plan. wil and i decided to do our tiling project this weekend, and redo the floors in the guest bathroom and the master bath. we went to home depot and bought lots of the necessary supplies. finding out we were at the wrong store location to rent the tile saw, we made the plan of going home, analyzing the scenario and going back to get the saw, as well as any other materials we may have missed, no biggie.
we get home and we start in the guest bath…attempting remove the toilet. a floor bolt is not necessarily rusted, but whatever it’s attached to underneath is rotted/rusted/gone etc, so when wil twisted the wrench to unscrew the nut, the entire bolt just turns. we have no means of breaking the bolt or sawing it off…no power saws are in our home collection. so we can’t get the toilet up. well, we decide to start working on pulling the linoleum up anyways, and it is absolutely a nightmare!!! it only pulls up in little 3″ strips, leaving the glue and paper layers behind. BLAH. luckily, we have to put backerboard down anyways, so we don’t have to get every little piece up. but once we got stuck a few times in a row, we figured it’d be too hard to mentally get back in the game.
we are both so frustrated so we decided to quit for the day. we are total wimps. maybe we weren’t in the right frame of mind. but the good/bad part is that the floor is half ripped up in the guest bath, so we pretty much have to keep going. we will eventually. and we’ll post some after pictures. if there is an after…

so i am sitting here on the computer and wil comes upstairs to change out of his work clothes. he walks into our bedroom and asks “new curtains?” (they happen to be pulled across the windows right now to keep the hot sun out)…
i bought and hung those curtains 9 days ago…
boys!
(sorry for the lack of substantial or meaningful posts- hopefully wil has something to talk about in the next couple days because i am at a serious loss of anything serious.)

wil unexpectedly had to work late last night so i had the evening to myself… my night looked like this:
bowl of cereal
+
wearing my veil (it happened to be out for alternative reasons…) with boxers & tank top
+
folding laundry on the couch while watching the new survivor
+
a later bowl of ice cream
+
wil’s surprise return earlier than expected
+
marathon of scrubs

it seems like this was a pretty full weekend. it’s about 8 o’clock; i am sitting on the couch while wil and our friend matthew watch football, and i am exhausted…
i felt like quite the socialite…but i guess it started wednesday. dinner and shopping with girlfriends wednesday night, dinner and catch up with other girlfriends thursday night (actually with the wives of the boys that wil hung out with that evening), and an arbonne preview party on friday night (left without buying anything, but that doesn’t say much since it takes a LOT to get me to buy anything at those kind of things).
saturday was a big day, isabella had her 9th birthday at the skate center, so being practically a big sister, i had to make an appearance. cassie and i donned our awkward roller skates (it had been years since i had been on roller blades, and at least a decade since roller skates) and got out on the rink amidst all the other 6 through 12 year olds. it was pretty embarrassing and pretty fun at the same time. my legs are so sore, but it was worth it knowing it meant so much to isabella to have the two of us a part of her big day. and cassie and i had a good time being silly together for a few hours (yes, even in the presence of our boss). with a beautiful open day ahead, cassie and i hung out for the afternoon driving around and attempting to do lots of wedding stuff. upon coming home, the day was yet to end…i hung out at home with wil for about an hour and then went to a baby shower for the evening.
after too long of a hiatus, wil and i tried another new church today. we really enjoyed this church for our first visit and are very excited to try it again. the service was smaller, lower key, and a bit more traditional. and bizarrely enough, the interior of the sanctuary looked almost exactly like the sanctuary of our wedding…exact wood beams and ceiling. so weird. maybe it’s a sign. the weather was OUTSTANDING today (and yesterday) and i was excited for my behalf that wil wasn’t too into the game on tv this afternoon; he and i went out to home depot, petsmart and starbucks for some yard and dog supplies. it felt wonderful to spend the afternoon in the yard, even if the weeding and raking wasn’t that enjoyable in itself. (oh and while at petsmart, it didn’t help that there were SOOO many cute puppies out and about…we are itching for another puppy).
this was not a normal weekend…i am not used to not having time on saturday for cleaning the house and my usual chore routine. if matthew doesn’t mind and if i can get myself off of this couch, maybe i’ll try to do our laundry for the upcoming week. ugh.

well…although you guessed option C, really option B was the winner…ding ding ding! west elm was pretty cool, but i already knew there wasn’t going to be anything there i had hoped to buy upon seeing it in person (based on looking at the catalog every time it comes in the mail)…but having gone to anthropologie a few nights before and seeing some cool things, i knew exactly what i wanted to buy there when the cash came around. well, to be honest, i kind of want to buy about 90% of the stuff they have in there…but i ended up buying a really cool H monogram which looks like a large metal letter on a wood block thingy (as if used in huge letterpresses) and a cool ceramic vase with retro-y shapes in multiple greens (i have little accents of lime-ish green with my teal sofa in the living room). so, both of those items now complete the fireplace mantel arrangement, and are both completely purposeless besides looking cool (thus wil doesn’t really see the point in them). plus, i only used about a third of my cash, so i can continue to splurge as i see fit without feeling bad.
so i sold the old couch off of craigslist…the girl came over tonight to look at it, and while i’ll be keeping it in the garage until she moves, she paid me my whoppin $150 to complete the sale. (we bought it used for only $300, 3 years ago, so i figured anything more than free is better than i’d expect)
so, i now have cash in my wallet and a dilemma at hand that i need help with. do i:
- a) put the cash into savings, to go towards some of the previous purchases made towards the house/furniture (boring and so what my personality would do)
- b) go splurge on myself at the brand new anthropologie store that just opened in nashville
- c) go splurge on myself at an exclusive preview party of the unopened brand new west elm store in nashville, to which i was recently invited to
decisions decisions… what would you do?

isaac is born! got a few calls during last evening on dena’s progess after being admitted to the hospital, and around 3 am i got to hear the official happy news. from mom’s email:
Isaac finally decided to enter this world on Friday at one AM in the morning……weighing in at 8 lbs 13oz and 21inches long. Mommy did so great. She ordered an epidural when she felt she couldn’t take another minute, but it took the doc too long to arrive and by the time he was there she had to push. So, that girl did it again…no meds!
no pictures yet…i’ll be sure to post a couple when i see them myself. congrats josh and dena!
