post ikea

i meant to take pictures of the couple pieces of furniture i bought at ikea a long time ago, since i’ve been living with this stuff for a few weeks already…here are the two main pieces i got (and put together all by myself, mind you). yay! (note: i bought a bunch of other stuff that’s not really picture worthy: curtains, frames, side tables, etc)

she wanted to help so bad

this picture was not planned out… (yes, gracie really laid next to me that close, and yes, i really do sort each item into it’s own pile before assembling!)

new bar table and stools

gracie showing off her mad carpentry skills…

i love this piece

i absolutely love this sideboard. i don’t know what i like better- the design of the piece itself, or the fact that all of my non-everyday dining stuff has a home now…

life

does it ever slow down?

It seems that so often we talk about how life gets so busy, we’re just waiting for it to slow down again.  We’re looking for a break or just some time to breate… does that ever happen?  I’m starting to think that it doesn’t.

I’ve got a mental checklist that never gets smaller.  Sometimes i love it, and sometimes it wears me out.

I think about a week ago i was completely worn out and couldn’t handle any more.  Until i took an extra day off work and did virtually nothing for 2 full days in a row!  I thought about work a little and thought about nothing a lot.  It re-energized me to go for the coming busy months.
I see a lot of positive things happening in the near future with work that includes a large leap in my leadership and responsibility in the store.  I am finally beginning to build my hierarchy that includes favorable partners with more responsibility.  Not only will this enable them to develop further within the store and company, but it also reflects the investment i’ve made in the store which i hope will entice my DM to give me that store when i ‘graduate’ from my training.  I would hate to put so much into a place and see so many people grow and benefit… then see someone else come in and change things without knowing that place the way that i do.
so… life is exciting and never ending; but that’s something that drives me.  It feeds me and enhances my focus and abilities.  I welcome the business of life and i say… bring it on.

oh yeah… i don’t know if i said this one before:

movie game

So… sometimes we get a little bored at work.  Or maybe we just need something to help pass the time…  The other day we started playing ‘the movie game’.  We take the title of a movie, “Lord of the Rings” for example… and replace a word in the title with the word ‘frappuccino’.  So it becomes, “Lord of the Frappuccinos”.  We just spent our time going about our work and would look up and say one that would make everybody giggle.. it was  great, and quite funny!  Here are some of my favorites:

-Mr. Holland’s Frappuccino

-My Big Fat Greek Frappuccino

-The Silence Of The Frappuccinos

-Frappuccino Hour

-The Pursuit of Frappuccino

-Million Dollar Frappuccino

-The Frappuccino Code

-Frappuccino on the Roof

-Inconvenient Frappuccino

…so those are just some of my favorites.  What’ve you got?

Well… we got a new car and we like it a lot.  It is a Mazda CX-7 and has some pretty nice features.

Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to get a ride someday!  ; )

sad car

wil attempted to post these a few days ago, but right when he hit the “post” button, the internet did something dumb and everything he had written and linked was gone! and, as frustrating as it is to rewrite everything, and as insanely nonstop busy we’ve been the last week or so, it’s no wonder he wasn’t too motivated to make a second attempt to put these up.

it’s been a while since i’ve sat at the computer for longer than 3 minutes, so while i have the chance, i thought i’d take the time to share the snapshots wil took of his sad little honda.

bye honda…you served us well.

danger!

ikea has some funny drawings sometimes in their instructions, but i think this one is my favorite so far:

watch out! your house might burn down!

europe by holga

got the few holga rolls that i took with me to europe (in may) developed finally. i scanned most of them and got them into flickr….here’s the set for your perusing pleasure…

i like some of them; some, meh. i wish i wasn’t so worried at the time about capturing the “sites” instead of just taking shots of more interesting everyday things we’d pass as we walked. those kind of shots seem to have more character than those of just looking up at a building and clicking the shutter. maybe i was just overwhelmed while there with a personal pressure to come back with amazing photos, and couldn’t keep up with my own standards.

on another note, cassie and i are going to ikea tomorrow go crazy buying new house/apartment stuff. two girls in a pickup truck, roadtripping just to buy cheap furniture. woohoo!
