forever

i don’t get email any more.  it’s now only hate mail.  i’m not saying that i don’t deserve it, however.  i know that i do; it’s been nearly a month since the last time i updated.  my sincerest apologies, really.

well, as the usual excuse goes after such a drought in postings, “i’ve been insanely busy.”  …yep.  here’s what’s gone down in the last month:

-i became a vegan for 2 solid weeks and posted on a livejournal page (more on this later)

-i have moved nearly everything out of my house and over to kristen’s house (i’ve got a mat and a sleeping bag on the floor)

-kris and i sold both our beds, some dishes and appliances at a garage sale and lived with her house as a complete disaster for a solid week.

-we moved her stuff into the other room (after much painting and setting up)

-we set up our office in her old bedroom

-justin (a groomsman) came to visit

all of this took place while both of us are dealing with school and work.  it may seem that all of this has been a nag, but truthfully, it has been quite enjoyable - all of it. (except maybe the school part)  we have really enjoyed setting things up in the house and making it ‘ours.’  aside from that, it looks really good too!  once the move is complete, i will be sure to add a very large photo album which shows the progress - keep an eye open!

vegan thing:  my project has been going smoothly, except that i am at a creative standstill when it comes to writing the actual paper.  i’ve got journal entries, pictures, videos, interviews, research… it just hasn’t all come together yet.  i’m giving it time and space; i’m finding that sometimes i just need to dwell on it while going about other business and eventually i’ll come up with something.  once my paper is completed, i will create a page that documents everything and shows pictures, journal entries, … you get the picture.

just has been here in town for the last few days.  it has been a blast seeing him!  we have visited the town and seen the sights!  justin, kris and i went into nashville tonight and walked all over the place, ending up at an irish pub, having some beer and singing to some great acoustic irish rock!  it’s been great having justin and i share our time this week and i can’t wait to spend more time with him this spring in oregon, before the wedding.  he is a great friend and i love him a lot.

i’ve done what feels like a lot to the website tonight.  i’ve began the process of deleting the forum and i did this for 2 reasons.  1 - nobody used it.  2 - some strange people were registering, people i didn’t know and wouldn’t respond to my messages and emails; that kind of creeped me out a bit.  i am working on how to add comments to the website and it may take some time, please bare with me.

i pray that everyone is doing well and i assure you that i will post more often than once a month.  i love and miss you all.

another thing

if any of you have never seen wil’s site, check it out.
www.simpleclosure.org
he posts usually about once a week or so about what he’s up to (or us). he also sends out a quick email to those “regulars” that want to hear about updates. be sure to email him and be added to the list- if you have a site or space of your own, he’ll love to put that up on his links page!

justin

much to my utter sadness, i found out today from wil that a ton of pictures that we took last night were accidentally deleted off of the camera instead of uploaded… that is the most depressing news of the morning.
forget the news of the world…the wars, crimes and car accidents. my photos are gone; never to be recreated. let us take a moment of silence.
ok, so i may be exaggerating, a bit. they are actually gone though, and i am very sad, but i guess it’s just to challenge me to write about my experiences so well that you have your own pictures in your head.
on to the actual blog…as mentioned previously, justin came to town to visit wil (and me). while i was at school and work, the boys played. wil had most of the nights off, as well as a mini easter break from school- luck-ee! but when i was around i had a blast as the three of us…probably the best was last night. justin couldn’t possibly have come to nashville without experiencing the city, so the three of us trekked up and down the strip and painters alley…passing one music club after another, each with loud, live country music pouring out the windows onto the streets. we showed him the big stuff: the gec, country music hall of fame, and the ryman (original opry), along with the equally important smaller stuff: authentic western wear stores, sun records store, and the bluebird. after much walking and milling we landed in a pub named mulligan’s; wil had actually celebrated his 21st there.
seated at one of the first tables in there before the crowd, we just sat and talked and munched on “irish” nachos (potatoes). later an acoustic trio of guys went up and played irish music and the three of us found ourselves banging our glasses on the table and singing loudly along. and don’t worry…while wil and justin had some pints of guiness and tried what is called a “black & tan” i sipped my water down. (not like i wanted to get anything or would even be allowed to!!!). but being the silly kids we are we did have a great picture of wil and me, with pints in both of our hands.
i guess it all sounds a bit sacrilegious to go out to a pub on good friday, but we did have an awesome communion service at church a few hours before…. but for some reason it feels funny to be describing both in the same post.
anyways, justin had a early morning flight today (glad i didn’t have to be the one who got up at 4!) so last night i said my goodbye. i am so glad he got to come out here. it’s not like tennessee is the most convenient place to get to!
